Viscose with silk ideal for summer

Silk with viscose in a green botanical and geometric pattern is a viscose silk that looks like a fragment of a garden enclosed in a masterful composition. It is a fabric with a matte finish and a simple weave, which makes its surface smooth and the color not harsh, but elegantly plays with the light. Ideal when you want to combine luxurious “softness to the touch” with an eye-catching, clearly outlined geometric plant motif.

Properties of silk blended with viscose

With a composition of 73% viscose and 27% silk, you get a great blend: viscose provides comfort, breathability, and pleasant drape on the silhouette, while silk enhances softness and adds to the fabric a nobler elasticity and “life” in movement. With a weight of 76 g/m², the material is light and convenient for sewing, but it does not show through like typical thin fabrics. The matte finish makes the pattern look more “textured” and less reflective, which people who like elegance without an evening-shine effect love. The simple weave helps achieve even, predictable fabric handling during sewing.

Pattern and color palette of silk

On a light background, there are clear decorative frames with interwoven geometric and botanical motifs. The palette is dominated by shades of green and dark turquoise, complemented by touches of yellow and deep accents, giving the whole a “gallery of art in a garden” feel. In the finished garment, the pattern beautifully emphasizes the cut lines: the simpler the style, the more couture the effect, because the graphics do the heavy lifting first.

Care for delicate fabric with silk

Wash the fabric gently at temperatures up to 30°C (delicates fabric program), preferably on the wrong side and without aggressive bleach. Dry naturally, away from harsh sunlight, preferably laid flat or on a hanger to preserve a nice fall. Iron at low or medium temperature, preferably through a thin cotton cloth; high temperature damages both viscose and silk. Ironing right after lightly draining usually gives the best result.

      Application of viscose with silk

This is a great choice for clothing that should move with grace: midi and maxi dresses, blouses with a neckline and cuffs, skirts with a light drape, and loose shirts with darts and pleats. The material is also very accommodating for sewing elements where you want a clear, rich pattern and at the same time comfortable wear on warmer days. With this weight, fashionable, airy tunics and overlays also work well.

      Helpful questions (FAQ)

Is this viscose silk more matte or shiny?

Viscose silk does not have a sheen and is definitely matte.

What is its weight and is it suitable for a summer dress?

It has a light weight of about 103 grams per running meter, which means the fabric does not show through and is breathable.

Will the colors of green and turquoise look good on a sewn blouse?

Yes, these colors will look very nice on the blouse; you can then complement the styling with vivid pink, navy blue, or, for a warm skin type, rust and orange.

What is the best way to wash fabric with 73% viscose and 27% silk?

Fabrics with silk in the composition are best not to be washed, unless we have a proven program in our washing machine for delicate fabrics. We recommend washing on the wrong side and preferably in a protective bag, so the item does not rub too much in the drum.

Does a simple weave make cutting and sewing easier?

Yes, such a weave is fairly easy to sew and to cut. However, it is important to choose the right needles and threads for sewing and remember the natural, slight slip of silk.
