Natural mulberry silk — this is a fabric worth remembering, because the feel of this fabric can take us into the world of luxury already with the first touch. Fabric category: Silk. This material is 100% mulberry silk, or in a version with the addition of elastane, with a width of 140 cm. The weight (grammage) is about 16 momme, which provides lightness and an exceptionally fluid movement of the fabric. Finishing and texture depend on the selected weave: silk satin, twill, crepe de chine, and chiffon create a diverse character — from a glossy sheen to a subtle, matte charm. These textiles can transform the most ordinary project into a real “wow”.

Mulberry silk — what it is, meaning its properties

A natural gem in two versions: 100% mulberry silk or versions with the addition of elastane, with a grammage around 16 momme, which guarantees excellent drape and durability. Mulberry silk is a fabric with exceptional hygroscopicity and thermoregulation — the skin breathes, moisture evaporates, and the material maintains thermal comfort even in changing conditions. Optional elastane adds gentle stretch, making the fabric even more practical for fitted cuts. The silk satin weave provides an intense sheen and a smooth surface, twill adds a soft texture and subtle weight, crepe de chine introduces a lightly ribbed, soft texture, and chiffon ensures lightness and airy movement. A width of 140 cm allows for creating projects with a minimal number of cuts, which every sewist will appreciate.

How to care for silk?

Composition: 100% mulberry silk or elastane versions. To maintain the fabric’s properties, we recommend washing on a delicate cycle or hand washing in water at up to 30°C with a mild detergent intended for silk. Avoid chlorine and high temperatures. Do not spin at high speeds; best is to dry flat or hang in the shade, avoiding direct sunlight. Set the iron to a low temperature (or medium) and iron through a delicate piece of cotton on the wrong side; if needed, use steam from a distance to avoid damaging the delicate structure. Elastane versions also require gentle care to preserve stretch without losing shape.
